2008 COCA-COLA SUPER LATE MODEL

BODIES

1. Standard dirt style bodies are required. Only stock appearing style noses are legal.

NOTE: NOSE,ROOF AND REAR ROOF SUPPORTS MUST MATCH BODY STYLE, eg. Camaro nose + Camaro size roof support (see table in roof section).

2. All cars must have type of car displayed on body, with minimum 3" high letters. Eg. Camaro/Mustang etc.

3. No Wedge style bodies. Maximum height of body (Fenders, doors, deck-lid, etc.), at any point, from the ground will be 36". No roof mounted spoilers or wings. No lips allowed anywhere on the nose or body. Lexan or Plexiglass windows allowed in the side-back windows. No windows allowed in the right side door window.

4. All upper and side panels must run parallel to frame.

5. All cars must have a minimum of 1 1/2" roll at the top of the fenders, doors and quarter panels, a sharp edge will not be allowed. Body roll must go from side over upper body, not upper body over sides. A single strip affixed to the edge of the body, and riveted,both on the side and the top, will not be permitted.

6. NO MIRRORS.

7. No part of deck lid may extend beyond quarter panels at rear.

8. All cars must have numbers, at least 18" high, clearly visible and identifiable on both sides. All cars must have numbers, at least 6" high, on the nose piece in the approximate position of the right head light,and at the rear on the fuel cell, in a visible position. This rule is for the benefit of all competitors who wish their car to be scored correctly on each lap. Officials reserve the right to ask any driver to change his number due to duplications.

NOTE: ALL MEASUREMENTS WILL BE TAKEN ON MATERIAL SURFACE TO EDGE OF MATERIAL INCLUDING LIPS, CURLS, ETC.

ALL BODY COMPONENTS MUST BE A MINIMUM 4" ABOVE GROUND LEVEL (NO SKIRTS)

INTERIORS

9. The interior body work of the car may be dropped to a maximum of 3" below the top of the doors, and must also be a minimum of 11" below the roll cage.

10. If a dropped interior is used, the interior panel must fasten flush at the top of the doors and must taper gradually towards center of car, without creating any lips. The minimum taper allowed will be 8" (see drawing).

11. If a dropped interior is used it must taper up, in a straight line, to the quarter panel height and be flat and level for a minimum of 32" to the end of the rear deck lid/ quarter panel, spoiler. Dropped interior may begin NO FURTHER FORWARD than the firewall, which in turn may be no further forward than the engine plate. At the firewall, across the center of the car, the drop may be vertical to the 3"max.

12. If interior is flat throughout car, it must maintain a minimum clearance of 13" from the roll cage to allow easy exit.

13. If interior is flat, the panel must run in a straight line from immediately behind the driver's seat to the base of the spoiler/rear of deck lid.

NOSE PIECES

14. Nose extensions must be flexible, and must not extend outside front tires with wheels pointing straight ahead. They can not alter original shape of nose piece, and must be braced with collapsible supports, if any. No steel

15. Stock-appearing noses must be made of molded type material and must be mounted level. No material may be removed from, or added to nose piece, No cutting from bottom, top, or sides. Fender flares must not alter original shape of nose piece. Minimum heights for stock nose pieces are as follows:

  • Early Camaro/Firebird...20 inches
  • 94-95 Camaro/Firebird...18 inches
  • Monte Carlo.................20 inches
  • Lumina........................21 inches
  • T-Bird..........................20 inches
  • Probe..........................15 inches
  • Mustang......................20 inches
  • Taurus.........................20 inches
  • Avenger.......................18 inches
  • Daytona......................18 inches
  • Intrepid........................20 inches
  • Grand Prix...................20 inches
  • Cutlass........................21 inches
  • Regal..........................20 inches

These are the min. vertical measurements from the bottom of the nose piece to the top of the nose piece, where the sheet metal is attached.

16. Two piece nose must be fastened together without any spacer to increase width.

17. Stock nose piece may extend a maximum of 46" from center of front hub to furthest point forward.

18. Wrecker hook-up MANDATORY.

FRONT FENDERS AND HOODS

19. Must be level and flat from left side to right side of car, and at least as far back as the firewall / engine plate.

20. No part of fenders or hood may be below outside body line. Fenders may not gain height from front to rear of car.

21. HOOD MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE CAR FOR TECH. INSPECTION.

DOORS

22. Top of doors on both sides, can be no higher than 36" from ground, with a max. material depth of 32" including any body extensions.

23. At no point may doors break in toward center of car. Eg. no dishing.

REAR QUARTER PANELS

24. No offset quarter panels, except equal taper from both sides toward the center of car. NO EXCEPTIONS.

25. Tire clearance from doors and quarter panels must be 2" MIN. Tires must be fully visible from side. No wheel skirts.

26. At no point may quarter panels break in toward center of car. Eg. No dishing.

ROOFS (MANDATORY)

27. Roofs must be stock appearing.

28. Roof posts/supports are mandatory. All posts/supports must go from roof edge to outside edge of body.

29. Rear roof post must be flat, not curved, and must be of correct size to correspond with nose/roof supports that have windows.

30. Both rear roof supports must be the same size, shape, and material.

31. Front posts must be flat and of uniform width from top to bottom (2"min) with a max 1" break at top and bottom.

32. No flat or odd shaped roofs. No partial roofs. No tilted roofs.

33. A maximum 3" roll is allowed along the front edge of the roof, a maximum 1" roll is allowed along the rear edge.

34. Any sun/anti-glare shields (maximum 4" deep) must be hinged for easy exiting.

SPOILERS

37. Rear spoiler must be securely attached to top of rear body along entire width.

38. A spoiler that is adjustable during the race is NOT allowed. Bottom of spoiler supports may not extend past the edge of the quarter panel.

39. No more than three (3) spoiler supports may be used. Supports can be no higher than 8" at any point and must be no more than 6" high at the front edge.

40. Spoilers must be made of a TRANSPARENT material, such as lexan, and of adequate strength.

41. Spoiler must have a maximum size of 8" high, by 72" in width.

NOTE: Gurney Flaps or Curls are allowed along the upper edge of the spoiler, but their length will be included in all measurements, ie. spoilers will be measured according to total length of and width of material, in any shape.

ROLL CAGE

42. All cars must have a suitable steel roll cage protecting the driver's compartment,including head-rest.

43. Side roll bars are mandatory, and must extend into the door panels. A minimum of three bars must be used on the left side. Each bar must be at least 1 1/2" in diameter, with a minimum material thickness of .095 inches. Roll cage must be welded to frame.

DRIVER COMPARTMENT

44. A full metal firewall must incompass the driver's compartment- front, rear, both sides, & floor. Aluminum or sheet metal acceptable.

45. Driver's seat must be of proper racing seat design, located on the left side of the car, and securely attached to frame.

46. A full racing seatbelt harness must be used. Harness must be secured to frame not seat.

47. All cars must have a quick release type steering wheel.

48. All cars must have a working starter, operated from inside car.

49. Batteries must not be located in driver's compartment.

50. All cars must have an approved fire extinguisher system, securely mounted within easy reach of the driver. A 5 lb. Halon system is recommended.

51. DRIVER'S SUITS (SHIRTS & PANTS) are MANDATORY. HANS Devices,Racing Gloves & Shoes are strongly suggested.

FUEL CELL/FUEL

52. Any approved fuel cell must be securely mounted in the trunk area of the car, inside a 20 gauge metal box, supported by a minimum of two 2" by 1/8" steel straps.

53. All fuel cells must be completely visible from rear. Fuel cell must not be mounted lower than bottom of Quick-change rear end.

54. GAS ONLY - No Alcohol ,Nitrous Oxide, Nitro-Methane nor other Nitrate additives.

TRANSMISSIONS

55. Drive train must have transmission, mounted on rear of engine - ie. no direct drive or in-out boxes. All transmissions must have a working forward and reverse gear, must be able to be changed with engine running, and must lead to one drive shaft. Transmissions must be equipped with an operational clutch.

56. All drive shafts must be painted white with the car number painted on it and it must be protected by at least two safety loops or a sling.

REAR ENDS

57. Any type of rear end/ differential is permitted.

BRAKES

58. All cars must have any operational 4-wheel breaking system.

WHEELS

59. All wheels must be aluminum or steel. Must be mounted with lug nuts. No knock-offs or center lock wheels. Maximum rim width is 14".

60. Wheel Base: 102" wheel base or longer.

TIRES

61. Hoosier D11 spec., D21 spec., D55 spec., 1300 spec., 1350 spec. or 1600 spec. (90-11-15 or 92-11-15 ONLY - NO Steering Tires).

62.Tire grooving is permitted.

ENGINES

63. Cubic inch - OPEN with one four barrel carburetor. Starter must be in good working condition. Engines may be interchanged (Ford body with Chevy engine etc.) 6" engine setback. Aluminum or steel heads permitted. All engines are limited to one (1) spark plug and two (2) valves per cylinder.

64. Collector type headers required. Exhaust outlet must not be pointed towards the ground, but parallel to the ground pointing outward, away from car.

WEIGHT

65.

  • 2300 lbs. 366 ci or Larger
  • 2200 lbs. 365 ci or Smaller

The minimum weights specified for each engine and body rule are the minimum that the race car must weigh after each heat race and/or main event. Weight must be declared on the RIGHT SIDE of the hood in 3" high numbers. If the weight is not on the hood, visible to track inspectors at the post - race weigh-in the car must weigh 2300 lbs. No exceptions.

66. Any attached weights must be securely bolted to frame, painted white and have the car number painted on them. No lead pellets. No liquid weights. (No driver operated weight adjustment devices.) ANY WEIGHT LOST ON THE TRACK WILL BE CONFISCATED.

67. ANY CAR NOT MEETING THE MINIMUM WEIGHT IN THE POST-RACE WEIGH-IN WILL NOT BE DISQUALIFIED BUT WILL BE FINED ALL POINTS AND ALL PRIZE MONEY.

68. NO ONE IS ALLOWED INTO ANY PART OF THE IMPOUND AREA AT ANY TIME DURING THE NIGHT. ANY ONE CAUGHT HANDING SOMETHING THROUGH THE FENCE TO A DRIVER WAITING TO BE WEIGHED WILL CAUSE THAT DRIVER TO BE PENALIZED 50 LBS. PER VIOLATION

OBSERVE: ALL DRIVERS PLEASE BE AWARE - MAXIMUM AND MINIMUM MEANS NO TOLERANCE

69. No radios (any communicating devices) and NO MIRRORS are allowed in or on a race car. Any driver caught with a radio or mirror will be disqualified from the race.

70. Any driver that wins three straight main events will start in the rear of the next main unless it is a special or double points race.

PROTEST FEE

71. Head Removal - $400.00, $100.00 will go to the track for expenses. (This protest will also be used to see if a driver is claiming the wrong weight.) All protests must come within five (5) minutes of the winner taking the checkered flag. The protest must be made by the driver. The protest will not be official until all of the money is in the flagman's hand. The driver putting up the money can not cancel the protest after the protest itself has been started. Any one that takes the checkered flag may protest any car that finishes anywhere ahead of him/her. CREW MUST HAVE THE CAR READY FOR INSPECTION WITHIN 120 MINUTES OF THE PROTEST BEING FILED.

72. A DRIVER THAT HAS BEEN PROTESTED HAS THE OPTION TO PROTEST THE DRIVER THAT PROTESTED HIM. THE SECOND PROTEST DOES NOT HAVE TO BE ON THE SAME THREE ITEMS AS THE FIRST. .

The initial protest must be made within five minutes after the leader takes the checkered flag. Any protesting back must be made within five minutes after the initial protest has been made.

73. Each driver, car owner, and crew member should be familiar with all of the above rules and the TRACK rules. There will be no excuse for the violation of any rules.

74. Anything not covered in the previous rules has to be ruled on when brought up. Track officials decisions will be final.
