Laurens County Speedway Joins SECA For 2013

Laurens County Speedway is heading into 2013 with high expectations and for the first time in the tracks storied history, it will run crate late models on the weekly schedule. The weekly crate late model program will be running under the sanctioning of SECA (South Eastern Crate Association).

Seca offers a $17,000 weekly points fund for drivers that are SECA members, with $6,000 going to the winner, paying back the top 20 positions.

“Teaming up with Laurens County Speedway was one of our main goals with SECA for 2013. I feel it is very important to try to help Dennis and Nolan build the crate class at their facility, as it is the first year for crates at Laurens. I think with the race tracks layout, the fans will be in for great racing from the crate late model drivers this year. I have a huge amount of confidence in what the Nabors family is doing at Laurens.” Stated Marion Limbaugh (SECA co-owner)

Laurens County Speedway was the last track in S.C running super late models on a weekly basis, but with the growth of crate late models across the country, the change from supers to crates on the weekly program financially makes sense.

Laurens County Speedway will continue to race on Saturday nights throughout the 2013, thus providing the fans a wide variety of racing from 4-cylinders to Limited late models.

“Nolan and myself have went back and forth on this decision, and we have looked around at other tracks, and talked to drivers from South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. The crates are the fastest growing class throughout all of these states, and we see no reason why crates will not flourish here at Laurens.” said Dennis Nabors promoter of Laurens County Speedway.

Laurens Speedway is planning to have a drivers meeting for all of its classes on Saturday Jan. 19th. Times for this meeting are TBA.

Partners of SECA include: City Chevrolet, Hoosier Racing Tires, Kenny Collins Signs, Ivey Construction, The Wholesale Outlet of Greer, RockAuto.com, Heintz Performance, Ellison Racing Engines, Kenny Lamb Racing Engines, Hendren Racing Engines & Big A’s Custom Graphics, Thomas Clarke Performance
