b. Crate Engines:
GM 8602 355 HP 390 foot lbs. torque or GM 8604 400 HP 400 foot lbs. torque.
Engines must be GM factory sealed.
c. Both LCS & Crate
Engines: One four barrel carburetor only (No two barrel). Adapter plate may
be used on carburetor.No electric fuel pumps. Headers permitted with collectors;
with exhaust pointed to the outside or out the back not pointed straight down.
Any distributor. No magnetos.
7. Engine Setback
LCS Engines -- 6 inch setback. Setback will be checked from the center of the
top ball joint to the number one spark plug. Crate Engines -- Engine setback 25
1/2 inches measured from center of ball joint to front of engine plate.
8.Drive train must
have transmission, mounted on rear of engine -- ie. no direct drive or in-out
boxes. All transmission must have a working forward and reverse gear, must be
able to be changed with engine running, and must lead to one drive shaft.
Transmissions must be equipped with an operational clutch.
9. Stock
or floater rear ends allowed with any gear and any sway bar. Quick
change rear ends o.k.
10. Suspension:
jacking bolts allowed. Coil springs on front or back can be shortened.
Shackles on back leaf springs permitted. Racing shocks permitted and can be
placed in any position. Four links O.K. Cars with coil springs on back can be
changed to leaf springs. Tube A-frames permitted.
11. Any bracing
permitted as long as it is behind the sheet metal or bumpers of the car, with
1 1/2" pipe or smaller. No solid steel bars. No rail road iron, angle iron, or
channel iron. Bars on bumper permitted.
12. Roll cage must be
made of roll bar tubing and must be welded to frame. At least three side bars
are mandatory on drivers side.
13. 5" seat
belts and shoulder harnesses required. Belts must be fastened
to seat hoop support not floor.
14. Steel or Aluminum
wheels allowed. 10", 12",or 14" OK. Beadlocks allowed.
15. TIRES:
Hoosier RC4 (28-10.5-15 or 29-10.5-15), D55 Spec. or 1600 Spec.
(90-11-15 or 92-11-15 ONLY).
16. Fuel cell must be
in a steel container. Fuel line must be in conduit if inside the car.
17. Gasoline
Only.
18. All cars
must have a 2 lb. fire extinguisher in working order.
19. Driver
suits (shirts and pants) MANDATORY
HANS Devices, Racing gloves, and
Shoes stronly suggested.
20. Drive
shafts must be painted white with the car number painted on it
and it must be protected by a safety loop.
21. Any attached
weights must be securely bolted to the frame with two 1/2" bolts
with lock washers or self locking nuts. Attached weights must
be painted white and must have the car number painted on them. ANY LOST WEIGHT
WILL BE CONFISCATED.
22.
ANY CAR NOT MEETING THE MINIMUM WEIGHT IN THE POST-RACE WEIGH-IN WILL
NOT BE DISQUALIFIED BUT WILL BE FINED ALL POINTS AND ALL MONEY.
23. Brake
adjusting devices that allow drivers to adjust brakes from inside
the car are allowed.
24. No driver
operated weight adjustment devices.
25. All cars
must have a chain on the front and rear for wrecker hook up. THERE
WILL BE A $20.00 OR 20 POINT FINE EVERY TIME THE WRECKER HAS
TO PICK UP A CAR WITHOUT A WRECKER HOOK UP.
26. Numbers
must be painted on both sides of the car and must be at least
18" high. Officials reserve the right to ask any driver to change
his/her number due to duplication.
27. All cars
must have a 6" number painted over the right head light cover
and fuel cell.
28. No radios
and no mirrors allowed in or on cars. Any driver caught will be
disqualified.
29. Any driver
that wins three straight main events will start in the rear of the
next main he/she runs in at the speedway unless it is a special or double
points race.
30. Any measurement
in these rules that is to be checked with a tape-measure will be allowed a 1
inch tolerance unless the rules say min. or max.
31. Engine
Protest: $400.00 Three items may be protested. $100.00 will
go to the track for expenses.
Crate Engine Protest:
$800.00 Three items, any of which involve braking the seals, may be protested.
$100.00 will go to the track for expenses.
Three
items from this list only: bore and stroke*, heads, rocker arms, cam,
carburetor, ignition, lifters, engine placement, wheel base, rear end, weight
transfer devices, fuel, fuel pump and wheels.
(* A protest on bore &
stroke will include looking at piston)
(A Crate Engine car may
be protested for $400.00 provided the three items being checked do not involve
braking the seals on the engine.)
Crate Engine Claim Rule:
A 8602 for $4,000.00 and a 8604 for $6,000.00. CASH ONLY after the
race same as protest rule.
32. All protests
must come within five minutes after the checkered flag has been
given to the winner. Protests must be made by driver. If the protesting
driver leaves the track the car being checked will be declared
legal. Any driver that takes the checkered flag may protest any
car that finishes anywhere ahead of him. The protest will not
be official until the money is in the flagman's hand. The driver
making the protest and one mechanic are the only people from his
crew allowed in the impound area (No Substitutions). The driver
and up to two mechanics are allowed from the car that is being
protested. The crew must have the car ready for inspection within
120 minutes of the protest being filed.
33. A driver
that has been protested has the option to protest the driver that
protested him. The second protest may be on any items listed in rule # 31 not
just on the same three from the first protest (THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS BOTTOM
END PROTEST; IF THE FIRST PROTEST IS NOT ON BOTTOM END THEN THE SECOND CAN NOT
BE EITHER). The initial protest must be made within five minutes
after the leader takes the checkered flag. Any protesting back must be made
within five minutes after the initial protest has been made.
34. No alcohol
is allowed in the impound area or at the pay window at any time.
35. Anything
not covered or not mentioned in the previous rules has to be ruled
on when brought up. Track officials decisions will be final.
