BODIES

1. American cars only 1960-up with a 106" minimum wheel base. Stock OEM bodies, Sheet metal bodies or a mixture of the two are allowed. No station wagons. Stock, aftermarket or homemade noses and bumper covers allowed(NO SLOPED NOSES: Homemade noses must be 90 degrees to the ground). Hood scoops allowed max. 2 1/2 inches high. Hood pins must be used on the hood and on the trunk. All glass must be removed and the interior may be hulled. Skirting Allowed. Lexan and plexiglass windows are allowed in the back-side window only.

2. Driver's compartment may be boxed-in with sheet metal. A full metal firewall must encompass the driver's compartment front, rear, both sides & floor. Aluminum or sheet metal acceptable. There must be an inspection door at least 12" X 12" just inside the right side window to allow officials to inspect the roll cage.

3. A 8" high spoiler or a stock spoiler for the make of car is allowed. The spoiler can not be adjustable. Any middle supports must be the same size as the side supports. Spoilers can be no wider than the car.

All measurements on the spoiler are maximum.

4. ENGINES : Cubic inches: 350 GM, 351 Ford Windsor, 360 Chrys., with up to 0.060 overbore stock stroke. Any steel rods with 5.7 length. Valves:1.94 or 2.02 intake and 1.50 or 1.60 exhaust. Valve springs any size. Crank must be stock. Any flat top pistons. Any intake as long as the carburetor fits under the hood without bowing it up. 500 hydraulic or solid valve lift max. at valve( Checked with solid lift at 0 lash.) Roller rocker arms with 3/8 or 7/16 stud and poly locks permitted. No twins or shaft rockers. Stock type cast iron exhaust manifold or headers. Headers are permitted with collectors and exhaust extending past the drivers' compartment and pointing out the side or back not pointing straight down. Carburetor: One four barrel only. No two barrels. Ignition: stock type, HEI or point type. No MSD types or magneto. Any steel heads. Heads may be bowl cut but they must be concentric with the valve guide no deeper than the round edge of the valve guide boss. No electric fuel pumps.

5. Engine location: the number one spark plug must be in line with the center of the top ball joint with 2" tolerance.

6. CHASSIS: Unibodies may be tied together. Full OEM chassis are allowed. Chassis horns may be cut off and replaced with tubing at the front of the buckets and rear of the frame may be cut off and replaced with tubing after the bottom elbow behind the axle. Stock front clip cars must have the OEM cross member then can be square tubing from the end of the clip to the back of the car.NO 4-LINKS ALLOWED.

7. STEERING: Quick release steering wheel O.K. No rack and pinion. Power steering o.k.

8. SUSPENSION: May change spring and shock rates. Tube A-frames permitted. Spring cups permitted with jacking bolts. Leaf springs and/or coil overs allowed.

9. DRIVE SHAFTS: Must be painted white with the car number on it and it must be protected by a safety loop.

10. TRANSMISSIONS: 3 or 4 speed straight drive with stock type clutch and fly wheel or automatic with torque converter. Slave cylinders allowed. Working reverse MANDATORY.

11. REAR ENDS: GM 10 or 12 bolt, Stock type 9" Ford, or floater rear end allowed.

12. BRAKES: Stock, 3 or 4 wheel. Disc brakes allowed. Dual master cylinders allowed. Aftermarket paddles allowed. Adjusting of brakes from the inside of the driver's compartment, OK.

13. TIRES: Hoosier RC4 (28-10.5-15 or 29-10.5-15 ONLY).

14. WHEELS: Must be steel. May be 10" or 12" wide. Beadlocks allowed.

15. LUGS: Lug studs can be oversized. Lug nuts must be 1 inch hex. min.

16. ROLL CAGE: Must be made of roll bar tubing.

17. RACING SEAT: Must be fastened to cage hoop and supported from roll bar cage.

18. SEAT BELTS: (5" belts) must be secured to seat hoop support, not floor.

19. FUEL CELLS: May hang if in a steel container. Approved gas tank must be in trunk. Fuel line must be in conduit if inside car.

20. GASOLINE ONLY.

21. BATTERY: Can be relocated but must be mounted in an enclosed box that has been securely mounted to the floor pan of the car with two straps 1/8" thick, 1 1/2" wide that are across the top of the box and also secured to the floor pan with 1/2" bolts.

22. FIRE EXTINGUISHER: A 2 lb. fire extinguisher in good working order required.

23. Driver suits and gloves, shoes, a HANS device, wind shield bars and window nets are strongly suggested. No short pants allowed.

24. All cars must have a chain on front and rear of car for wrecker hook up. THERE WILL BE A $ 20.00 OR 20 POINT FINE EVERY TIME THE WRECKER HAS TO PICK-UP A CAR WITHOUT A WRECKER HOOK UP.

25. No radios and no mirrors allowed in or on cars. Any driver caught will be disqualified.

26. Any attached weight must be securely bolted to the frame with two 1/2" bolts with lock washers or self locking nuts. Attached weights must be painted white and must have the car number painted on it.ANY LOST WEIGHT WILL BE CONFISCATED.

27. Any car not meeting the minimum weight in the post-race weigh-in will not be disqualified but will be fined all points and all money.

28. No driver operated weight adjustment devices.

29. Numbers must be painted on both sides of the car and must be at least 18" in height (officials reserve the right to ask any driver to change his/her number due to duplications).

30. All cars must have a 6" number painted over the right head light cover and the left tail light cover.

31. The winner of three straight mains must start in the rear of the next main he/she runs at the speedway unless it is a special or double points race.

32. A driver that wins three championships in five years must move out of the division for ten years. A driver winning one championship in a higher division at Laurens may not run in this division for five years after the championship.

33. Any measurement in these rules that is to be checked with a tape-measure will be allowed a 1 inch tolerance unless the rules say min. or max.

34. Engine Protest: $300.00 Three items may be protested. $100.00 will go to the track for expenses.

Three items from this list only: bore and stroke*, heads, rocker arms, intake, cam, carburetor, ignition, engine placement, wheel base, rear end, weight transfer devices, fuel, fuel pump and wheels.

(* A protest on bore & stroke will include looking at piston.)

Bottom End Protest: $600.00 Any additional items must come under another protest. $200.00 will go to the track for expenses. One piston and one rod must be picked and removed from the engine.

Clutch Protest: $250.00 Only clutch assembly including flywheel may be protested. $100.00 will go to the track for expenses.

35. All protests must come within five minutes after the checkered flag has been given to the winner. Protests must be made by the driver. If protesting driver leaves the track the car being checked will be declared legal. Any driver that takes the checkered flag may protest any car that finishes anywhere ahead of him. The protest will not be official until the money is in the flagman's hand. The driver making the protest and one mechanic are the only people from that crew allowed in the impound area. (No substitutions). The driver and up to two mechanics are allowed from the car that is being protested. The crew must have the car ready for inspection within 120 minutes of the protest being filed.

36. A driver that has been protested has the option to protest the driver that protested him. The second protest may be on any items listed in rule # 34 not just on the same three from the first protest (THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS BOTTOM END PROTEST; IF THE FIRST PROTEST IS NOT ON BOTTOM END THEN THE SECOND CAN NOT BE EITHER). The initial protest must be made within five minutes after the leader takes the checkered flag. Any protesting back must be made within five minutes after the initial protest has been made.

37. No alcohol is allowed in the impound area or at the pay window at any time.

38. Anything not covered or not mentioned in the previous rules has to be ruled on when brought up TRACK OFFICIALS DECISIONS WILL BE FINAL.
